Full Story

A fantastic day out for dog lovers and families alike, the event will feature expert training demonstrations, a fun dog show, have-a-go activities, trade stalls and the chance to meet experienced trainers and canine specialists. A contribution from the day's proceeds will be donated to Animal Rescue Cumbria, helping to support the charity's vital work caring for animals in need.

Beyond its special events, Leighton Hall offers a memorable day out for visitors of all ages. Families can explore the beautiful historic house, stroll through the woodland walk and gardens, enjoy the famous Birds of Prey displays, and let younger visitors burn off energy in the adventure playground.

Throughout the season, visitors can discover the fascinating history of the Gillow family home through guided tours, admire the Hall's impressive interiors and collections, and unwind in the tea rooms.

Estate manager Lucy Arthurs explained “As well as getting everything ready for opening to the public on the 3rd May and Dog Day on the 4th May we’re lining up lots of events, including four motoring events, featuring rallies, classics, motorbikes and Porsches. We’re very excited about our first Local History Weekend in September, leading perfectly into autumn’s popular Apple Day, both celebrating our local heritage and community.”
