'24 Hours on the Trails' Challenge with Lakeland Trails
Spend a day (and night, if you choose) walking, running or team relaying a course through Leighton’s glorious parkland at the pace and distance of your choice. With elite competition, free spectator and children’s activities and catering, this inclusive and family-friendly event is guaranteed to be fun and uplifting, whether you’ve got your competition on, want to join in for a lap or two, or cheer from the sidelines.
Timings: Open from 8:30am, trail start time: 12pm
Cost: £65 - £85 entry with Lakeland Trails - free parking, free to spectate, free children’s activities
The rules are simple: starting at 12pm, run or walk around the 5.75km lap for as long (or little!) as you want over the next 24 hours. Organised by Lakeland Trails, bringing inclusive, festival-style running and walking events to the Lake District, and the National Landscape since 2004, with fun activities and special guests, prizes, children’s have-a-go lap, onsite caterers, marshals, hydration and refuel stations.
Challenge yourself, enjoy the camaraderie of taking turns with a group of friends or work colleagues, highlight a cause or memory, raise money for charity, or come along to support and enjoy the fun. With elite athletes including multiple ultra-race winner Laura Swanton Rouvelin already signed up for the challenge, it’s a great opportunity to cheer on the best in the field.
