Paint Workshop
Paint makers Rebecca Wallace and Pip Seymour will be holding a Workshop on Watercolour Painting at Leighton Hall, Carnforth, Lancashire on Saturday 22 April 2023. Places are limited to a maximum of 15. Tickets are priced £80.00 and must be pre-booked.
The workshop comprises of a technical discussion on watercolour painting with the chance to try out colours from the Wallace Seymour Vintage Watercolour paint range.

10am Arrival. Tea/Coffee on reception.
10.30am - 12noon
Introduction to traditional watercolour techniques:
choice of pigments, manufacture of watercolours, choosing papers and brushes.
We will prepare pigment from raw material dug from the ‘Paint Mines’ on Leighton hall estate: the famous old colour Warton Red Ochre, formerly used in artist and industrial colours, a deep red-marron red ochre, rich in natural iron oxide.
Please bring a sketch book/pad/brushes to make colour notes.
12.30 – 1.15pm Lunch – Soup/sandwiches.
1.15pm -3pm – Practical Workshop in the Studio and Surrounding Garden.
The afternoon session will provide the opportunity to try out colours from the Wallace Seymour Vintage Watercolour paint range. Weather permitting, we will work outside, using the garden or the expansive view across the Lakeland Fells as subject matter. We will provide tips on paint technique, use of watercolour painting mediums and how different paper surfaces react to watercolour as mass tone and wash applications. We will have examples of mould made and handmade watercolour papers to try out.
