Many thanks. I know the team had a great time being photographed in the grounds and the filmographer who came over from Munich thought it was an amazing setting.

NEW signs are being put up in north Lancashire warning poachers that they are not welcome on a country estate.
Leighton Hall, near Silverdale, has a large population of red and fallow deer and historically there is an increase in poaching in the run up to Christmas.
Poachers have been responsible for damaging gates and walls in order to gain access to the land.
Now new signs, funded jointly by the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime and the estate, will be placed around the grounds to warn that anyone damaging property, poaching or committing any other offence will face prosecution and arrest.
Community beat manager PC Tony Marsh said: “Previously anti-trespassing signs have been ripped down by poachers leading to an increase in littering, trespassing and criminal damage.
“The new signs are not only more robust and harder to remove but also show there is a combined approach being taken by the estate and police when it comes to tackling poaching.”
He added: “We are also using our Farmwatch scheme to send out text messages to farmers and landowners offering crime prevention advice and warning when poaching has taken place.
“We hope the signs will also increase public awareness and that incidents of poaching will be reported to us so that we can increase patrols in vulnerable areas.”
Anyone with information about poaching or who wishes to know more about the FarmWatch scheme can call Lancashire police on 01524 63333.

The Leighton Hall Food and Craft Fair took place on 12th and 13th of September and it was a huge success. Good weather meant crowds of happy shoppers and delighted foodies browsed all day through the massive marquees.
Celebrity Chef Richard Fox, (famous for his partnership with Neil Morrissey of ‘Men Behaving Badly’ at the restaurant and pub ‘Ye Old Punch Bowl Inn’ at Harrogate) took centre stage at the show. This year’s theme was Love Food, Hate Waste and Richard performed a number of demonstrations, throughout the weekend, which promoted ideas for using left over food.
In the huge craft tents, over 80 master craftsmen, ranging from potters and painters to weavers and wood turners, demonstrated their skills and everything on show was available to buy. There were stalls displaying hand-crafted toys, beautiful glassware, paintings, textiles and wonderful ornaments, as well as a wide selection of custom made jewellery and rural arts like corn dollies and dough craft.

On a rainy Friday afternoon, the forecast for the annual Shakespeare in the Garden production, held on Leighton lawns, was not looking good. However, undeterred by the weather , hundreds of people gathered for their pre performance picnics at 6:30. Miraculously, the rain stopped in time for the picnics and only started again as the cast took their final bows.
A slightly damp but none the less enthusiastic cast romped through the Merchant of Venice to a crowd of over 300 strong. Suzie Reynolds of Leighton Hall said, “We are so grateful that the audience came along to brave the weather in true English spirit. They were rewarded with a fantastic evening of Shakespeare, songs and a hint of sunshine!”
The Lakeland Classic Car Rally took place on Sunday 12th July 09. It was a fantastic day that was extremely well attended.

The local Daimler Car Club visited on Sunday 19th April and had a tour of the house as part of their afternoon run out. Here is a photo of their cars out in front of the hall.

The Hen Days Visit at Leighton Hall was on Sunday 18 May. For more details visit our Hen Days page.
Well another year and another resounding success! This years event was bigger and better and the weather even stayed dry for the majority of the day. With 300 cars this year, the VAG gathering held at Leighton hall grows bigger each time.

Into its second year this exclusive event features cars from all walks of life, from the out and out pristine cars to the standard and not so shiny, this is the event that caters for them all.
With the beautiful backdrop of Leighton hall set in 80 acres of land, this has to be the best location for any car event. The uniqueness about this event that sets it apart from any other VW show was that all the cars were on display, none were confined to car parks away from the main arena. Young and old were seen mingling and chatting and generally enjoying the great atmosphere that this gathering always brings. This year with the added bonus that the rain held off for most of the day.
In summary, a great location with a fantastic feel to it. As the motto of the forum says " be a big part of the community, not a small part of the scene"

During October 2007, 16 guests attended a one day simulated game shoot, with clay pigeons. Organised by Wendy Plummer of Plummer Dixon Associates, the guests were invited to shoot the clays throughout the parkland in pairs. There were two simulated drives in the morning, followed by a lovely lunch in Leighton’s magnificent dining room, before the pairs stepped out into the afternoon sunshine for the final round of the day.

A recent evening party enjoying a tour of Leighton Hall by candle light before finishing with mulled wine and mince pies in the Music Room where two of the party entertained the others by playing the Concert Grand piano.

Members of a Shearings group enjoying the winter sunshine at Leighton Hall while waiting for the rest of their party to finish their morning refreshments in the cafe.
