In this workshop, you will learn the technique for painting on silk. The morning session will commence with a 20 minute power point on the history of silk and its influence on many aspects of life, including art.
You will cover colour theory and then paint two framed pieces of silk, one plain and one with a gutta design. You will learn about the effects that sprinkling sea salt has on the painted silk, and then once dry and ironed the pieces will be ready for inserting into a pre-prepared card.
During the afternoon you will make up two cards.
Finally, there will be a question and answer session when a list of Useful Addresses will be circulated.
By the end of the day, you will have gained knowledge of silk painting and how this may be used in a wide variety of ways to create an original piece of artwork.
